Ontario Provincial Police say one person was killed in a collision between a transport truck and a passenger vehicle on Highway 69 near Pointe Au Baril on Wednesday. A 69-year-old man from the Ottawa area died in the crash, OPP Const. Brandon Charlebois told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email Thursday morning. The West Parry Sound detachment was called to the scene in The Township of the Archipelago around 3 p.m., OPP said in a news release. The cause of the collision is under investigation and there is no word on whether any charges are pending. “The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP’s North East Region traffic incident management and enforcement (TIME) team, the OPP’s technical collision investigator (TCI) and reconstructionist,” police said. “The Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario - Ontario Forensic pathology Service (OCCO-OFPS) is assisting, and a post-mortem examination will take place at a later time.” The Ministry of Transportation said the scene was cleared by 11:19 p.m. The highway was closed at Highway 124 on the north side and Highway 522 southbound.
