Shots fired in downtown Montreal

Montreal police (SPVM) is investigating after shots were fired in the downtown area late Sunday night.

Gunshots were heard at 11 p.m. at the intersection of Young and William streets in the Ville-Marie borough.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers say they did not locate any victims or suspects.

They did, however, find shell casings on the ground.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown.

Investigators, forensic technicians and the K9 unit are on site to analyze the scene.

Police say they are speaking with witnesses and checking surveillance cameras in the area.

There have been no arrests.
