Décarie southbound is closed this weekend: expect ‘major’ disruptions, MTQ says

Significant traffic delays are expected this weekend due to the complete closure of the southbound Décarie Expressway, says the MTQ's Louis-André Bertrand.

Getting around Montreal by car will be more difficult than usual due major roadwork happening this weekend, including the closure of the southbound Décarie Expressway.

The closure is expected to cause significant disruptions so drivers are being urged to plan their trips accordingly.

“We have over 100,000 vehicles usually that drive on the Décarie daily so you will expect delays,” Ministry of Transport spokesperson Louis-André Bertrand told CTV News.

During the closure, Bertrand said he expects much of the traffic heading south to spill over onto Highway 13, which he says has more capacity to take on more volume of cars.

The closure is necessary for crews to fix a beam that was struck by a truck last year.

Highway 15 (Décarie)

• From Friday at 11:59 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. complete closure of Highway 15 South between the Décarie Interchange and the on-ramp from Jean-Talon Street

Highway 40

• From Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at noon in Senneville, A-40 eastbound will be completely closed at Exit 41 (A-20, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants).

Saint-Antoine Street West

• In Montreal (Ville-Marie borough), on Saint-Antoine Street West, complete closure between Gosford and Guy-Frégault streets, from Friday at 11:59 p.m. to Monday at 5 p.m. Note that one lane will remain open at Exit 6 of R-136 East (Saint-Laurent Blvd., Berri St.).

Habs game (Bell Centre)

• Sunday, May 10, starting at 1 p.m., closure of the block between de la Montagne St., Peel St., René-Lévesque Blvd., and Canadiens-de-Montréal Ave. The reopening of lanes will vary depending on the length of the game.

• Construction of a dedicated lane – resumption of work on the A-15 (des Laurentides) between Boisbriand and Mirabel

A-15

• Work on the new reserved lane will resume on the A-15 (des Laurentides) between Boisbriand and Mirabel. Starting May 10, 2026, construction will result in the complete closure of a section of the reserved lane near Côte Saint-Pierre Road in Mirabel for approximately six weeks.
• Construction of a new section of the reserved lane will also continue between the access ramp from Boulevard du Curé-Boivin in Boisbriand and Boulevard de la Seigneurie Ouest in Blainville. Various traffic disruptions can be expected throughout the year to carry out this work.
