At least 600 addresses in downtown Montreal are without water on Thursday after “several” water main breaks. City officials confirm that crews are on site to mitigate the situation on Lincoln Avenue between du Fort and St-Marc streets. The incident is also affecting the water supply to addresses on Stanley, Guy and Drummond streets. Officials explain that work on the “main water supply system” caused a “higher-than-expected increase in water pressure, resulting in breaks and leaks in the Ville-Marie neighbourhoods.” However, they insist that the “water quality was not compromised at any time.” The city adds that the delivery of bottled water and portable toilets is being coordinated for the area. There is no word yet on when the situation could be resolved.
