A snowfall warning is in effect for the London region by Environment Canada, with snow squalls this evening through Thursday. An Alberta Clipper brought significant snowfall to the area, “Some areas picking up close to 15 to 20 centimeters of snowfall and normally with clippers, they don’t have a lot of moisture to tap into. They move quickly. However, this one had some moisture with it and that snow is difficult to shovel,” said CTV News London meteorologist Julie Atchison. According to Atchison, the winds are going to shift to the northwest as we head into tonight, “We’re already seeing the lake effect snow downwind of Lake Michigan and Superior,” she said. Cold air moves into the area overnight with potential snow squalls overnight, bringing 10 to 15 centimetres to the region. Temperatures continue to drop into the weekend. “Daytime highs well below normal until a week out and we’re back up to plus two,” said Atchison. Things are expected to quiet down by Friday and moving into the weekend, we will see flurries on Saturday and Sunday.
