Pop culture fans packed the Western Fair Agriplex for two days of cosplay, fantasy, and celebrity meet and greets. “We’re going on year 14 now and the excitement just keeps growing,” said Andrew Kitt, president of London Comic Con. “Our numbers are up and fans are happy with our change to the Western Fair. It’s a new venue; more space and just has more attractions. We were able to expand to have three stages of entertainment constantly rotating. We have live wrestling taking place and we even have Nuggie Con, which is a whole new thing within Comic Con.” Among the celebrities in attendance were WWE legend D’Lo Brown, movie actors, voice actors, and television stars including actors from Crave shows Heated Rivalry and Letterkenny. “I love coming to conventions and getting to meet the fans,” said Dylan Playfair, who plays Reilly on the show Letterkenny. “We don’t get to do what we do without fans watching the show, so it’s always a treat to come and meet people and hang out and make some good memories.” Playfair was taking photos and signing autographs. He said he gets about an equal split from fans from his show Letterkenny and roles in the Descendants film franchise. “The wildest thing is that I did a show called Some Assembly Required, which was in 2014,” added Playfair. “It was a show meant for kids, age five to 10, and now they’ve grown up and now they’re attending the conventions, which is really cool to see kids who have grown up watching a show that I was on a couple of years ago. I’m very fortunate in the sense that I’ve got a pretty broad spectrum of fans in the in the age range anywhere from nine-to-10-year-old kids, all up to grown adults who like Letterkenny.” Thousands of people dressed in costume were shopping with local vendors, watching shows on stage and soaking in everything organizers brought to the table. “This is a place to find what you love and really celebrate it,” said Kitt. “If you’re a pop culture fan of Star Trek, Star Wars or Pokemon, anything in between.
