Selling an e-bike online turned into quite the ordeal for a Guelph resident. The Guelph Police Service arrested a 52-year-old man and charged him with robbery and uttering threats on Tuesday. They were told a person had been trying to sell an e-bike to the 52-year-old, but the transaction soured when the pair met up on Speedvale Avenue East around 4:30 p.m. Investigators said the 52-year-old took the bike, but refused to pay for it. When the seller demanded he return it, the man allegedly picked up a knife and began chasing him while yelling threats. The police encourage anyone who wants to buy or sell items online to meet in public places or at the Guelph Police Service’s buy and sell zone outside the Foundation Street East station.
