A dumpster fire was quickly doused by the Cambridge Fire Department. The Waterloo Regional Police Service published a social media post at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday announcing the closure of Main Street between Ainslie Street and Wellington Street as first responders dealt with a fire. On Thursday, the City of Cambridge confirmed the fire department had dealt with a dumpster fire between two buildings on Main Street. The fire was blazing when crews arrived, and there was concern about the neighbouring buildings being exposed to the flames. However, firefighters quickly put out the fire and there were no injuries. Police said the fire is not considered suspicious and there is no ongoing investigation.
