The City of Cambridge has announced a naming deal for their latest recreation complex. The facility scheduled to open in 2027 will be called the Beneva Recreation Complex thanks to a sponsorship and investment commitment from Gore Mutal and Gore Mutual Insurance Foundation. The Gore Mutual Foundation will be investing $4 million in projects and programs that benefit the community while Gore Mutual will be giving the city $1.2 million in naming rights sponsorship. The name reflects a merger between Beneva and Gore Mutual. Gore’s headquarters are in Cambridge. “The Cambridge Recreation Complex is one of the most significant community investments in the city’s history, and we are grateful to the Gore Mutual Insurance Foundation and Gore Mutual for their continued commitment to Cambridge,” Mayor Jan Liggett said in a news release. “This combined investment reflects Gore Mutual’s deep roots in our community. We look forward to challenging the Gore team to a swimming match!” When complete, the new complex will include a 10 lane, 25 metre pool, three FIBA gymnasiums, an indoor running/walking track, multi-purpose rooms and a Cambridge Public Library branch. It is being built at 655 Wesley Boulevard, next to the new public and Catholic elementary school.
