The big melt starts this weekend

A big flip in the weather pattern hits this weekend as warm air settles in and then sticks around.

After the fourth-coolest first half of April, temperatures are set to climb to average or above average through the back half of the month.

There are a couple days next week that might only get to 8 or 9 C, but most of next week will top out in the 10 to 15 C range.

The short term outlook is even warmer for the weekend and Monday/Tuesday.

We’re off to a frosty start to Friday with temperatures well below 0 C.

But, we should get back above 0 C by midday and then up around 7 or 8 C this afternoon.

Sunny skies this morning will give way to a few clouds and there’s a slight chance of some scattered showers in the Edmonton area around supper time.

We’ll slip just slightly below 0 C Saturday morning and then bounce up to a high near 12 C in the afternoon.

THEN...a low-pressure system will bring some showers to northern Alberta on Sunday. South of that system, temperatures climb into the mid to upper teens in north-central and central Alberta.

Daytime highs are projected to be around 20 C for both Monday and Tuesday with morning low staying above freezing.

With a decent amount of sun in the forecast, we’re in for a big, quick melt.
