‘Congratulations on your win’: Sherwood Park man wins $1M lottery

A Sherwood Park man won a $1-million lottery last month.

“Congratulations on your win,” read an email from Play Alberta to Alex Larson, who was playing an early-morning round of golf.

“I was kind of groggy, but when I saw the win… I was awake,” he said.

“I shared the news with my boss, and he was pretty excited for me. There were a lot of high-fives.”

Larson, who works in banking, said he’s going to invest most of his winnings.

“But I’m also thinking about getting a new set of [golf] clubs,” he added.

“It’s truly a life-changing amount of money. I’m going to Iceland, Switzerland and Italy in the fall, so this will help with that.”
