$30K of cigarettes stolen from First Nation, 3 people charged in northern Alberta

RCMP are looking for a group of Fort McMurray residents accused of stealing $30,000 worth of cigarettes from a northern Alberta First Nation.

According to RCMP, the cigarettes were stolen from a sea can on Fort McMurray 468 First Nation on the night of June 16.

Mounties were able to identify a suspect vehicle using surveillance footage and later found it parked at a home on Hill Drive in Fort McMurray. Inside, officers said they could see several unopened cigarette packages.

The home and vehicle were searched. Along with a small amount of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, the following items were seized:

• 449 packs of cigarettes
• 45 packs of unstamped cigarettes
• six cigars; and
• a replica handgun pellet gun.

Arrest warrants were issued for two men, 40 and 28, and a 28-year-old woman, with charges against them including breaking and entering and failing to comply with probation orders.
