2 taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after collision: police

Police say a man driving a van and a man driving an SUV were both sent to hospital with serious injuries after they collided at 23 Avenue and Millwoods Road.

Two people were taken to hospital with “serious” injuries after a crash Monday afternoon in southeast Edmonton, according to police.

Around 3:43 p.m., police were called to a two-vehicle rollover crash near 23 Avenue and Millwoods Road.

Police were told a 2011 Lincoln MKX was driving south on Millwoods Road through a green light when it was hit by a westbound 2004 Dodge Caravan that ran a red light on 23 Avenue, according to a news release.

The collision caused the Caravan to roll multiple times, police were told.

At the scene, one vehicle could be seen upside down, with visible damage to the front, roof, passenger side and passenger side rear.

The 37-year old driver of the Caravan and the 61-year-old driver of the MKX, both men, were taken to hospital with “serious injuries,” according to Edmonton police.

The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section is investigating. Police added speed is considered a factor in the crash.
