The City of Victoria is cracking down on cannabis by taking dispensaries to court.

In its first major offensive, the city has filed an injunction against downtown dispensary Green Dragon Medicinal Society.

The city handed over 12 tickets to the Herald Street store for failing to comply with its marijuana zoning bylaws.

In 2016, the city took actions to regulate marijuana dispensaries.

Green Dragon is also taking legal action agains the city. It filed a judicial review of council's decision not to give it the neccessary zoning.

There are 33 pot dispensaries currently operating in Victoria.
