Another round of water restrictions is slated to begin next month in Calgary as construction on the Bearspaw South feeder main draws to a close. The City of Calgary said Thursday residents will be asked to adhere to stage 4 outdoor water restrictions and indoor water conservation for about four weeks starting Nov. 4 That means Calgarians will not be allowed to use water outdoors. They’re also encouraged to run dishwashers and laundry machines only when full, flush toilets only when needed and take three-minute showers. The measures also extend to Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore and Tsuut’ina Nation. The restrictions come as city crews prepare to connect the new Bearspaw South feeder main to the city’s existing water system. Repairs to the feeder main began earlier this year after the problematic pipeline suffered two catastrophic breaks since June 2024. The connection marks “one of the final steps of installation” for the main feeder main, the city said in a news release. Once the pipe is connected, crews can begin the final work needed to bring the new pipe into service. The city says the project “remains on track” for the end of the year.
