Calgary police say a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on 17 Avenue S.W. on Wednesday was a 16-year-old girl. The collision happened in the intersection with Ninth Street S.W. at 3:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles. Police say it’s believed one of the vehicles failed to stop, colliding with the other vehicle which then struck the teenager. The teenager was on the sidewalk at the time, police said. Firefighters found her in a planter suffering from serious injuries. “The driver of the first vehicle was issued a summons for failure to stop at an intersection,” police said Thursday. “Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision.” Emergency Health Services said both drivers were taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
