Snowfall headed to Calgary as frigid temperatures return

Winter has returned to Calgary.

There was so much melting on Thursday, and it is freezing fast, bringing icy spots under all the snow.

If you have the luxury to work from home on Friday, then do it, as icy roads and heavy snow will be the story for the Friday morning commute.

It will be a 13-hour snow event in Calgary that should start to clear out late Friday night. Totals should range from 10-15 centimetres for the city, although it is possible in some localized areas to get over 20 centimetres.

Temperatures are also expected to drop quickly throughout the day.

The snow should clear out of Calgary completely early Saturday morning, but the cold will stay another day.

On Saturday, expect the sun to break out in the afternoon, but it comes with a chilly high of -8 C.
