Magrath, Alta., woman dead after being hit by truck

RCMP are investigating after a semi truck fatally struck a pedestrian on Monday morning.

Investigators say just before 9 a.m. a 42-year-old woman was walking alongside a transport truck on First Street West in Magrath, located roughly 260 kilometres south of Calgary.

They say she then stepped in front of the vehicle as it was pulling away.

Fire, ambulance and Mounties all responded, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” reads a news release sent Tuesday morning.
