Blood Tribe man charged in assault investigation; gun, bullets seized

The Blood Tribe Police Service says a gun and ammunition were seized from a home on the reserve this week while investigating an assault.

Officers were on patrol in the St. Paul’s area of the Blood Tribe Reserve on June 16 when they came across a woman in distress.

Police say further investigation led officers to determine the woman was the victim of intimate partner violence involving a firearm.

Because of the high risk involved, police called in the RCMP emergency response team to assist as they searched the property.

One man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and firearm-related offences.

Police aren’t releasing the name of the accused so as to protect the identity of the victim.
