Health Canada is urging people to ‘immediately stop using’ these kitchen products

More than 1.2 million units of Thermos-brand items are being recalled by the company due to the risk of potential injuries.

Health Canada issued a consumer product recall on Monday, warning the household products could pose a hazard of impact and laceration.

The recall includes Stainless King Food Jars, which were manufactured before July 2023, with model numbers SK3000 and SK3020, as well as the Thermos Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottle with model number SK3010, which were discontinued in 2016.

Canadian Thermos Products Inc. reported a total of 1,209,104 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between January 2009 to November 2021.

“The stopper of the recalled Food Jars and Food & Beverage Bottles does not have a pressure relief in the centre,” the recall said, adding that “if perishable food or beverages are stored in the container for an extended period of time, the stopper can forcefully eject when opened, posing serious impact injury and laceration hazards.”

The company says as of June 24, it has received 10 reports of Thermos-related incidents, as well as three injuries.
