A young black bear found wandering the neighbourhood with an injured leg is getting a second chance at an Ontario wildlife sanctuary. Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary says this little female bear arrived at its Rosseau facility last week after she was spotted limping on her own with an obvious injury. She was safely trapped by the Ministry and brought to the local sanctuary, where an examination revealed a leg injury. “An examination confirmed that her front leg is fractured,” Aspen Valley staff said in a social media post. For a bear this age, something as simple as getting around becomes much more difficult. “An injury like this puts her ability to survive in the wild at risk,” the sanctuary said. But for now, she doesn’t have to do it alone. The young black bear is safe at Aspen Valley and receiving treatment and support while her leg heals. “We’re doing everything we can to give this little bear the best possible chance at recovery and, ultimately, a return to the wild where she belongs,” the sanctuary said.
