Provincial police shared details about a possible suspect involved in a Midland assault early Friday morning. The incident At around 2:30 a.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP was called to the area of Hugel Avenue and Elizabeth Street shortly after 2:30 a.m. for a reported assault. A man was initially rushed to a local hospital before being airlifted to Toronto. Ornge confirmed it transported one patient suffering from critical stab wounds. The suspect Late Friday evening, Southern Georgian Bay OPP reported that investigators are looking to speak with a ‘person of interest’ who was seen leaving the area toward King Street. Police describe the possible suspect as an Indigenous or Hispanic man measuring six-foot-one and nearly 240 pounds wearing light-coloured clothing. “Investigators believe this was an isolated incident with no signs of a broader threat,” said an OPP spokesperson in a news release. The scene Portions of King Street, Bourgeois Lane and First Street near Hugel Avenue and Elizabeth Street were closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. By 9 a.m., police said the on-scene investigation had concluded, road closures were lifted and officers had resumed regular patrols.
