Emergency crews responded to a fire at a Barrie encampment late Saturday morning. According to Thomas Bezruki, the city’s assistant deputy chief, crews were called to the wooded area just west of Highway 400 and south of Bayfield Street. He told CTV News that debris and a 150-by-150-foot section of grass was on fire. Six units were involved in the response, and the fire was extinguished within 20 minutes. Crews remained on scene for an hour and 15 minutes. Bezruki confirmed that no injuries were reported, but the cause of the fire remains unknown.
