It was a troubling two days on roads across Orillia as police responded to a series of crashes and reports of dangerous driving. Five motorists are now facing a combined 17 charges in connection with the incidents, police say. According to OPP, the events unfolded between Friday and Saturday and led to five vehicles being towed. A 32-year-old from Port McNicoll, a 62-year-old from Washago, a 33-year-old from Ireland, a 38-year-old from Severn and a 37-year-old from Oro-Medonte were all charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired over 80. The Port McNicoll driver also faces a dangerous operation charge while the Ireland resident is further accused of dangerous operation, driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor and failing to stop for police. The 37-year-old from Oro-Medonte faces additional charges of dangerous operation, abandoning a child and breach of probation. Police say all five drivers received a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and had their vehicle impounded for seven days.
