Bystanders recover body of drowned man in Gravenhurst

Emergency crews were called to the Ungerman Park Cliffs at around 6 p.m. following reports of someone who jumped into the water but didn't re-surface.

A 28-year-old man has died after drowning near Muskoka Wharf Marine in Gravenhurst, according to Muskoka Paramedic Services.

The incident occurred Sunday evening, around 6 p.m., paramedics say, in the area of Wharf Road near Steamship Bay Road.

According to provincial police, a group of people were spending time in the water at Ungerman Park cliffs when one member of the group did not resurface after jumping in.

OPP say a couple who were boating nearby pulled the man from the water and transported him to the Muskoka Wharf.

Muskoka paramedics tell CTV News resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
