An Oro-Medonte teenager was accosted by a man on a dark country road in mid-August. Provincial police (OPP) were called about a suspicious occurrence by a 17-year-old girl on September 6. The teenager said a man in a car approached her in the area of Old Barrie Road near the 4th Line North in mid-to-late August between 9 p.m. and 10: 30 p.m. The girl said she was approached from behind by an unknown man who tried to restrain her and take her from the area. The youth fled and was able to get away safely. However, prior to the incident, she said she had observed a suspicious vehicle in the area on multiple occasions throughout July and August The man is described as a tall male with a muscular build, dark straight hair, who wore jeans, a T-shirt, and a chain necklace. She described the car as a black four-door sedan with long rectangular taillights, a loud engine or exhaust, and cloth interior seats. Police are reminding residents to trust their instincts, and report suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity to police immediately. The investigation remains ongoing lead by the OPP Orillia Crime Unit.
