Police have confirmed that a 68-year-old woman struck by an SUV in Orillia over the long weekend has died. The crash happened around 8 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 12 and Monarch Drive. Orillia Ontario Provincial Police say the woman was struck by a grey SUV and suffered serious injuries. She was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital, where she has since succumbed to her injuries. Several roads and intersections were closed during the evening incident. Police have not released the woman’s name out of respect for her family’s privacy. The investigation is ongoing, and officers are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, particularly anyone with dashcam or security footage, to contact police.
