The premier says the province is in good fiscal shape and it's time to for purposeful investment in B.C.'s social safety net.

Christy Clark says one of those investments will be striking a careful balance with minimum wage.

She says the province has to help the people who make minimum wage, but mustn't impact small businesses too much.

The minimum wage will be raised this month and again a year from now, eventually pushing it above $11 an hour.
