Halifax R&B artist Lindsay Misiner turns pain into purpose with debut album

Halifax artist Lindsay Misiner is releasing her debut album this Friday.

One of the most recognizable new voices in Halifax’s R&B scene is about to reach a major milestone. Lindsay Misiner is set to release her debut album “For a Moment, I” this Friday – a deeply personal project that’s been years in the making.

“I feel like that’s my purpose in this world… to be a messenger and to help others,” said Misiner in an interview with CTV Atlantic’s Katie Kelly.

The album draws on some of the hardest moments in her life.

“Love loss, love gains, pain, heartbreak of many sorts – not just romantic heartbreak but family heartbreak,” said Misiner. “Some of it is about my sobriety as well.”

Misiner says the title “For a Moment, I” reflects the idea of letting go of the past and embracing growth.

“Each song was a moment in my life that has now passed,” said Misiner. “It’s about reflecting and moving forward instead of holding on to things, you realize, ‘for a moment you were, and now you’re not,’ so move on.”

When she’s not performing, Misiner channels that same message of healing and hope through her work with the Archdiocese of Halifax, helping people experiencing homelessness.

“Every day I get to wake up and help people,” said Misiner. “It’s not a job that I’m forced to do - it’s something that I actually want to do.”

Misiner will mark the album’s release with her biggest show yet – a celebration set for Nov. 21 at The Garden Food Bar in Halifax, complete with live performances, a cocktail hour, and a few surprises.

“It’s going to be very bougie – that’s the goal,” she said.

Ultimately, Misiner hopes her music inspires listeners to reflect on their own journeys.

“I just hope people enjoy it – maybe have some sensual moments, maybe some sad reflection moments – and just take away that I love what I do,” said Misiner.
