Thane Dunn is bringing Elvis’ big 1970s stage energy to Casino New Brunswick Saturday night. The two-time world champion Elvis tribute artist is using the show as an opportunity to support Feed NB. Five dollars from every ticket sold will be donated to the non-profit. “From the second that you walk in, you’re going to have a smile on your face,” Dunn said in an interview with CTV Atlantic’s Katie Kelly. “And when you leave, you’re going to be real happy… and you’ve also just helped a great cause.” Dunn says more and more kids are going to school hungry and, as a New Brunswicker and a dad, he wants to help with that. “I want to see a change here,” said Dunn. “So many kids are going to school hungry and they’re not learning anything.” Feed NB says the need has skyrocketed. “In the last few years, the demand went up over 140 percent in New Brunswick,” said executive director Stéphane Sirois. Sirois says partnerships like this help them keep up. “Thane’s a special ambassador of ours for a few years now, and partners like this are crucial. Every dollar counts,” says Sirois. Dunn says the fundraising total is already at $6,000. He believes it can hit $10,000 with last-minute ticket buyers. “Book your tickets, come out, have a great night and support a great cause.”
