An apparent tornado touched down in Souris, P.E.I., Wednesday afternoon. Brielle Campbell captured video in the Little Harbour area of Souris, showing rotating winds at the surface picking up light debris and water from a pond. According to CTV Atlantic meteorologist Kalin Mitchell, while it would take an onsite investigation of the wind damage to be sure — even an EF-0 tornado can come with winds up to 136 km/h, which could pick up debris. The Maritimes contended with isolated severe thunderstorms both Tuesday and Wednesday. The stormy conditions are a result of warm, muggy air at the surface and cooler, drier air moving in aloft.
