Senior pedestrian hit by truck on Quinpool Road taken to hospital: Halifax police

A 72-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Quinpool Road at a marked crosswalk near the intersection of Vernon Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Staff from the Halifax Regional Municipality tell CTV News she was taken to the hospital by EHS with serious injuries.

Police closed Quinpool Road between Windsor Street and Quingate Place outbound to traffic while conducting their investigation.

The male driver of the pickup truck remained on scene. He was visibly shaken and upset by the accident but didn’t appear injured.

Police didn’t provide any other information at the scene but said no charges have been laid but the investigation continues.

There was no update from police at this time on the condition of the woman who was struck.

Quinpool Road has since reopened to traffic.
