A 43-year-old man is facing multiple charges after Nova Scotia RCMP allegedly recovered two stolen vehicles. Investigators learned a stolen Dodge Grand Caravan was parked at a residence on Highway 201 in Meadowvale, N.S., around 7:45 a.m. last Friday. “When officers attended and attempted to arrest a man who was inside the vehicle, he assaulted one of the officers and fled on foot,” reads an RCMP news release. Police arrested a woman who was also in the vehicle. Multiple RCMP crews, including police dog services and a drone operator, attended the scene to find the man. “Officers later observed the man, identified as James Carl Stoddard, in a nearby yard. He again fled on foot into a wooded area,” reads the release. Officers found Stoddard on Welton’s Lane around 11:30 a.m., and he was arrested with help from police dog services. Police say Stoddard was assessed in hospital for an injury related to his arrest and released into custody. None of the police officers involved reported any injuries. While police responded to reports of the one stolen vehicle, they also allegedly found a second stolen vehicle – a motorcycle – on the property. “A Dodge Grand Caravan and a Kawasaki KLX300 motorcycle, were seized and officers are working to return them to their owners as the investigation continues,” says RCMP. Stoddard, of Upper Granville, is charged with seven offences, including: His first court appearance was on Monday, and he remains in custody pending future appearances.
