John and Donna Silver of Prospect Bay, N.S., are holding their annual garden tour Sunday in support of the local food bank. “It’s mostly a woodland garden. We have ponds, paths going throughout, bridges, boardwalks and lots of benches to sit on,” said Donna. The Silvers have been giving tours of their eight-acre property for 40 years, while also encouraging people to bring non-perishable food items and monetary donations with them. “Sometime over the years we started raising funds and doing what we could for Feed Nova Scotia and we are doing that again this weekend,” said Donna. Along with the impeccable grounds the day will also feature artisans and live music. “We have local artisans coming in, there is a jeweler, glassworker, potter, woodworker and sometimes you just never know who else will show up,” said Donna. “Then we have Beyond Harmony, which is a group of three women who sing.” Donna said they had 300 people attend last year and they are hoping for more this year. The garden tour will take place Sunday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 283 Brennans Road in Prospect Bay. With files from CTV Atlantic’s Jim Kvammen.
