An inmate at a federal prison in Nova Scotia died while in custody Saturday. At the time of his death, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) says the 48-year-old was an inmate at Springhill Institution in Springhill, N.S. “The individual’s name has been anonymized to comply with a court-ordered publication ban to protect the identity of the victim,” reads a news release from CSC. The inmate had been serving a sentence of two years, 11 months and 30 days since April 20. “As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified,” reads the release. CSC says next of kin have been notified. For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
