New videos that appear to show three teens who went for a joyride in a stolen car around the Moncton, N.B., area are circulating online, and police confirm they have arrested the youths. One video shared on social media that has since gone viral shows one of the teens riding on the roof of a vehicle while driving down Vaughan Harvey Boulevard around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. A separate video shared on social media, which appears to have been taken by one of the teens, shows a black vehicle with a youth hanging out the window in a park in Moncton’s north end. The vehicle spins wildly on the grass numerous times before the driver exits the park by driving on the sidewalk up Lonsdale Drive. On Tuesday, CTV News showed the video to several people who live right across from the park. “That’s insane, especially where I have young kids. And young kids play soccer in that field. It’s nuts,” said Jenna McNeil. “I’m very surprised because we have tiny kids that come here and play in the yard,” said Lori Dupuis. “They play soccer, it’s crazy.” Janet Furrow said she and her husband spotted the teens earlier in the day. “It’s pretty scary because I take my grandkids for walks when they come to visit,” said Furrow. “I thought it was very ridiculous.” ‘Car surfing’ video goes viral Kelsie-Ann Balcom took the initial video of the vehicle on Vaughan Harvey Boulevard from the passenger seat of her car around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. “When I saw them kind of climb onto the vehicle and then stand up with no hands, I was just shocked. Am I actually capturing this? Are these kids that stupid?” said Balcom. Balcom posted the video on a community Facebook page because she was concerned about the well-being of the teens and hoped the RCMP would see it too. “They were laughing, they were having a great time, but everybody around, you could just tell, was so worried and upset that something was going to happen,” said Balcom. Balcom said her video has been viewed more than 650,000 times across multiple Facebook groups. Three teens arrested The RCMP said it received multiple reports of dangerous driving and “car surfing” on Vaughan Harvey Boulevard in Moncton around 1:20 p.m. Sunday. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Hans Ouellette said the black vehicle had been reported stolen in Moncton. “Throughout the day, police continued to receive reports regarding the vehicle, its occupants, and related incidents,” said Ouellette in an email to CTV News. In addition to dangerous driving, police also received complaints about thefts from businesses, and break-ins at homes and businesses in the Memramcook and Scoudouc areas. CTV News has obtained video footage that appears to show two teens smashing the windows of Arsenault Cylinder Heads, a machine shop in Scoudouc. The RCMP eventually found the vehicle abandoned in a ditch on La Montain Road in Memramcook. Later that day, police responded to a report of a break-in in progress in Memramcook East. “Upon arrival, officers engaged in a brief foot pursuit and safely arrested a 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, both from Moncton,” said the RCMP. “A 14-year-old boy from Moncton later turned himself in to police.” The three youths were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Moncton provincial court on Nov. 25.
