Drivers planning to use the Mactaquac Dam in New Brunswick this weekend will need to find an alternate route. The provincial government says the dam will be fully closed to traffic beginning Friday at 9 a.m. until Sunday at 9 a.m. The closure comes after a similar shutdown planned for the previous weekend was postponed. Officials have not yet released details on the specific work being carried out during the closure. In an email to CTV News, government staff said they are working to gather more information on the nature of the work. According to the provincial government’s website, rehabilitation work on the Mactaquac Dam bridge project has been ongoing since 2022 and is expected to continue until the fall of 2026. The bridge serves as a key crossing over the Saint John River west of Fredericton, and periodic traffic disruptions have occurred throughout the rehabilitation project.
