It wasn't that long ago that we were enjoying sunrises like this.

Just two days ago 12-year-old Keona McKnight snapped this picture of the sun rising over Cordova Bay in Saanich. Stunning!

Today, we have a very different picture as a storm approaches the south coast of B.C.

Wind warnings are in effect for Greater Victoria, the Southern Gulf Islands, as well as east and west Vancouver Island.

Expect winds of up to 80-90 km/h as the storm moves through late this afternoon and overnight. Winds will ease overnight as the low weakens and moves inland.

There's plenty of rain associated with this storm, too, although rainfall totals in the next 24 hours aren't expected to be at a warning level.

Conditions will clear a bit Friday, with sunshine breaking through the clouds, although winds will still be gusty. Just in time for the weekend another system will bring rainy weather to the island.

There is some good news; Monday dries out and brightens up.  By then you can bet we'll all be thankful for some sunnier weather!
