A senior member of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is taking on a new title: chief. Ryan Sneath was named as the city’s new fire and paramedic chief, according to a media release Tuesday. “At a demanding time for emergency services, I know he will keep supporting frontline staff, strengthening workplace culture, and making sure Winnipeggers continue to receive excellent care when they need it most,” Mayor Scott Gillingham said in the release. Sneath is currently the service’s deputy chief of Paramedic Operations and Training. He takes over from Chief Christian Schmidt. The 33-year veteran with the force is retiring July 3. Sneath’s new appointment begins July 6.
