A reported gun sighting prompted a nearby school to step up its security. Winnipeg police told CTV News it received a report of “a male youth walking with what was believed to be a gun” shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. The report said it was in the Honeyman Avenue and Broadway area. As a precaution, Gordon Bell High School was put into a hold and secure situation as police investigated. A hold and secure means regular activity continues inside the school, while access to and from the school is restricted. “Multiple units searched the area with negative results and determined there was no threat to public safety,” the email from the police service to CTV News said. The hold and secure order was lifted before noon.
