The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) released an update about recent tornadoes in Manitoba. In a social media post on Wednesday morning, the project said “enough evidence has been gathered” for the Rossburn, Man. tornado damage — upgrading its rating to “low-end EF3.” CTV News previously reported the tornado’s classification as minimum EF2 on Monday. The project said the low-end EF3 has a maximum wind of 230 km/h. For Monday evening’s storm that swept through Winnipeg, the NTP confirmed on social media that a tornado battered Winnipeg’s Whyte Ridge area. “A damage survey found a very narrow path of damage, with a preliminary EF1 rating assigned,” the project said late Tuesday evening. More details for both tornadoes will be available in the future, the project added.
