A charity wanting to help everyone have a joyful Christmas is running out of time to raise much-needed funds. On Monday, The Salvation Army in Winnipeg said it needs to raise $127,000 in two days. That’s roughly one-third of its $357,000 goal for the entire holiday season. “We need a Christmas miracle,” said Bernadette DeSantis in The Salvation Army’s media release. “We’re asking everyone to be part of this miracle by filling our kettles with cash so we can continue supporting struggling families at Christmas and year-round.” The Salvation Army said funds for its Christmas Kettle campaign are used year-round for things such as food banks, school supplies, and homelessness prevention. It noted while the need for these and other services is growing - donations are down due to people experiencing financial strain.
