After another hot and humid July weekend in southern Manitoba, a cold front that passed through Sunday night brought an end to heat warnings on Monday. That said, conditions will remain on the humid side Monday, with humidex values in the low 30s across the south. But even that is an improvement. Behind the front, it will be a windy afternoon across the region. Environment and Climate Change Canada said unsettled northwesterly flow will also bring showers and thunderstorms to the south. Any thunderstorms that do develop aren’t expected to be severe, although the weather agency cautions the odd severe wind gust or hail stone is possible closer to the international border. Showers and thunderstorms are also crossing northwestern Ontario on Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, yellow warnings for air quality continue for much of northern Manitoba on Monday. Otherwise, many northern areas will see showers pass through before some sunshine returns this afternoon. Conditions will be relatively quiet across Manitoba on Monday night. If you prefer daytime highs that aren’t too hot, you will enjoy conditions on Tuesday in Winnipeg. Look for sunshine and a high closer to 23 C. The rest of the week will be sunny in the city, but be prepared for another blast of heat starting Friday when daytime highs in the low 30s will return and continue through the weekend.
