A high-risk offender was released on Sunday and expected to live in Winnipeg. Marcel Hank Charlette – also known as Hank Marcel Caribou, Hank Charlette, Peewee and Bald Egale – was released from Milner Ridge Correction Centre after serving his sentence for breaching probation. Charlette is on supervised probation for two years from his release. The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU) says he is considered a high risk to re-offend in a sexual and/or violent manner against everyone, including children. The 53-year-old completed some sexual offender treatment in the past but remains high-risk. He is described as five-foot-two, about 124 lbs with brown eyes and several tattoos – including two teardrop tattoos, “1972” near his eyes and “87” on his right cheekbone. The MIHRSOU says he was convicted for a slew of offences, including the manslaughter of a two-year-old child, eight assaults, threats, weapons-related and violating court orders. Out of eight assault convictions, four of them were against a female, according to a media release. The supervised probation order requires Charlette to follow several conditions, including a daily curfew and a prohibition on any weapons. The unit said any form of vigilante activity or unreasonable conduct against Charlette won’t be tolerated.
