A firefighter was injured and one resident was sent to hospital after a Saturday night fire. At 9:34 p.m., firefighters were sent to a two-storey rooming house in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue in Winnipeg’s William Whyte neighbourhood. When they arrived, smoke was coming from the residence. Crews fought it from the inside and brought it under control at 10:02 p.m. All residents evacuated the building, but one was assessed by paramedics and sent to hospital in unstable condition. The city said a firefighter was injured at the scene and also sent to hospital in stable condition. The investigation continues and no damage estimates were available.
