Several downtown Winnipeg streets will be closed for part of the day Wednesday. The closures will make way for the Southern Chiefs’ Organization Healing Walk and Pow Wow, held to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The City of Winnipeg says the following closures will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: — Westbound Forks Market Road, from Israel Asper Way to The Forks; — Northbound Israel Asper Way, from Forks Market Road to York Avenue; — Westbound York Avenue, from Israel Asper Way to Main Street; — Southbound Main Street, between York Avenue and Portage Avenue; — Eastbound Portage Avenue, from Main Street to Hargrave Street; and — Hargrave Street, from St. Mary Avenue to Portage Avenue. Additional streets, including northbound Main Street between York and Portage avenues, will close for parts of the day as the event moves along its route, the city said. Drivers are being asked to plan alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
