If you aren’t a fan of hotter summertime temperatures, you will enjoy conditions on Tuesday across southern Manitoba. Daytime highs across most of the region, including Brandon and Winnipeg, will only reach unseasonably cool highs around 22 C. Normal late-July highs are in the mid-20s for both cities. After intermittent heat and humidity over the last couple of weeks, a cooler day will likely be a relief to many. But if you enjoy basking in hotter temperatures, they will return on Wednesday and continue into early next week. We will also enjoy sunshine over the next several days in the south, including today. Meanwhile, wildfire smoke continues to plague much of northern and central Manitoba. Yellow warnings for air quality issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) continue across both regions, except for areas furthest east. As winds shift from the northwest, ECCC said smoke from fires in northern Alberta will spread into the Westman area in Manitoba. The weather agency cautioned it’s not certain if smoke will remain aloft as haze as it spreads south and east or if it will come closer to the surface. Otherwise, much of northern Manitoba will see a warmer Tuesday than the south, under a mix of sun and cloud. Temperatures are expected to climb to the mid-20s as far north as Brochet and Tadoule Lake this afternoon. To the east, it will be a cool, cloudy and windy day across northwestern Ontario on Tuesday. Strong and gusty north winds will help keep afternoon temperatures in the unseasonably cool upper teens.
