The lockout at Titan Tool in Windsor has come to an end. According to Unifor Local 195 President Emile Nabbout, an agreement has been reached between the union and company. “The company finally [has] agreed to pay the people their entitlement for severance pay,” said Nabbout in an interview with AM800’s Rob Hindi. “So, we believe that the labor dispute will end immediately as soon we verify this money has been deposited to our members.” Nabbout says the company expects things to be wrapped up within two weeks. “The union agreed to remove the picket line and everything else … because they have a third party interested [in] some of the equipment,” added Nabbout. “I’ve been told to say that our members will be fully compensated. What they are entitled [to] under the law.” He says there isn’t a need to ratify a closure agreement, as this is a settlement matter between the union and the company. The workers have been locked out since August of 2025. Nabbout is optimistic the union will be able to assist its members find work quickly now that this lockout is over. “We are, very appreciative [of] all the support we received from many,” said Nabbout of the community support over the past 11.5 months. “There [was not] one single day without seeing the love, care for our members, our workers.” While it may take a few days to remove the blockade, signs, etc., Nabbout says their members are no longer actively participating in the picket line as of Friday night. -With files from AM800’s Rob Hindi
