Drive-thru microchip clinic returns to Windsor-Essex for pets on the go

Pet owners in Windsor-Essex can roll down the windows and roll through for a little extra peace of mind this weekend.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is bringing back its popular drive-thru microchip clinic — making it easier than ever to get furry family members protected without even leaving the car.

Dogs, cats, and even rabbits are welcome to cruise through the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre in Belle River on Sunday, where veterinary staff and volunteers will be ready with quick microchips for just $40 a pet.

Organizers say the clinic works a lot like a drive-thru — minus the burgers and fries — helping keep pets calm while owners stay comfortable behind the wheel.

The Humane Society says microchips are one of the best tools for reuniting lost pets with their families since collars and tags can easily fall off during an unexpected adventure.

And after the success of past clinics, officials say they’re excited to finally bring the popular event back for another round of wagging tails, happy purrs, and safe trips home.
