Chatham homes evacuated in gas leak incident

Chatham-Kent emergency services have been called to a gas leak incident on Scane Street in Chatham.

The municipality said gas was reported coming from a lawn.

All homes on Scane and some on Foster Street were evacuated as a precaution. Everyone but three households have returned.

Emergency services and Enbridge crews are still on scene. Windsor Hazmat is on standby as a precaution.

Residents are asked to avoid the area until further notice. There is no immediate public danger at this time.
